Upper Peninsula Waterfalls Gorge FallsThe Gorge Falls in Gogebic County is on the Black River, about 14 miles north of Bessemer, and is named for the deep, narrow gorges on either side of the falls.

These scenic waterfalls drop from a height of 25 feet, and because of their proximity to the equally impressive Potawatomi Falls, are a convenient and easily accessible set of waterfalls to visit.

Rainbow Falls

Upper Peninsula WaterfallsLocated about 16 miles north of Bessemer, and a half mile hike from the mouth of the Black River in Gogebic County, Rainbow Falls is a scenic waterfall with an observation deck on the west side.

Rainbow Falls cascades down a 30 foot drop into an eroded pothole at it’s base, and is the last waterfall on the Black River as it enters Lake Superior.

Laughing Whitefish Falls is approxiamately a 100 foot drop, and is on the Laughing Whitefish River.

Au Train Falls

Autrain Falls is conviently located in route to Laughing Whitefish Falls if heading from Munishing.

Horseshoe Falls

Upper Peninsula Web DeveloperHorseshoe Falls is a spring fed waterfall located on Stutts Creek  near the southern limits of  Munising.  It is a privately run tourist attraction with a small admission fee for visitors.

Directions: From M-28 near Munising’s southern limits, turn east onto Prospect St. Go 2 blocks to Bell Avenue and turn left (north). Go 1 block to Horseshoe Falls parking area on the right.

Alger Falls

Upper Peninsula Web DeveloperAlger Falls is in Alger county, and is located along the east side of  M-28,  south from Munising where it meets M-94.

Alger Falls cascades down 25 to 30 feet of rock and can be seen as the highway descends from the Wetmore hill.  Alger Falls is on Alger Creek, which is fed by the Anna River.
